Easter eggs for Spookytimejingles update!

I love these large duck egg sized gourds but find them hard to come by. I painted up some Easter eggs in some original designs using old Victorian postcards as my inspiration. So fun! I have always loved vintage rabbits and wanted to try my hand at making one, complete with pack basket, for Easter this year. What fun details too. I handmade carrots and miniature Easter eggs and even little flowers in his flower cone. Loved the German Easter grass I got from Blumchen and company. I have lots of ideas for Easter this year, so stay tuned.

Valentines Day goodies!

I am not usually working ahead of time enough to get something done for Valentines Day but I surprised myself! I have always wanted to try making some cookies from clay and I think they turned out great. Only problem is everyone says, "Yum" and wants to eat them! I plan to make more as I sold this batch right away. Wish I had some real sugar cookies....

I have just finished my Santa for the Spookytime update and I know, Santa? I just had a few more things to finish and I do love making them. The one I will be offering is a nutcracker Santa. The other is one I finished and sold a few weeks ago. Both of these are hand carved wood with a few sculpted details. I love adding all the goodies to them. I hand painted 5 tiny unfinished nutcrackers for the nutcracker Santa and love how they turned out but they took me hours and hours of painting. These are fairly large Santas and the largest is 16" tall. Now on to Valentines day goodies. I have some ideas... Thanks for sharing my art with me!

Just taking a minute to share my newest Santa that I will be putting up for sale. Also wanted to wish you all Merry Christmas and hope that all your wishes and dreams come true this year.
This is one of my hand carved wooden Santas. I am trying to finish up projects started years ago and never quite finished. It takes forever to carve these from wood. Merry Christmas everyone! It's time for the update on the 13th of this month and I have a very special Santa I would like to give a sneak peek of. This is one of those pieces that I have been working on for over 3 years and many, many hours of work. I love how he turned out and putting together the toys on his garland he holds was so much fun! He is a carved wooden Santa that stands over 21" tall. I sculpted his face and beard however, so I could give him the detail I felt he needed. October was a different month for our family. My father in law passed away at the age of 99 and it was sad but a blessing too. What a rich and full life he led. I haven't had a chance to share much of the few things I managed to make that month so I thought I would show a few of my favorite. This witch bust was so fun! I just wanted to introduce two little brothers, Trick and Treat. These two go everywhere together and they are really excited for Halloween. These two just make me laugh every time I look at them. My son won't leave them alone, he likes them so much! I'm clearing shelves, dusting off cobwebs and getting ready to put up some Halloween decorations. Hurray!

There was an old witch who lived in a hat. She looked out the window and says "Where's that darn cat?"
The cat was upstairs trying to eat him a crow
and the bird laughed and pooped with a "Watch out below!"
I am still laughing at the poem my sister, Sue, wrote when I sent her pictures of my latest sculpt. She is one clever person! This is a new design for me and it is sold. I have new respect for miniature artists as it was really hard to sculpt a tiny witch and cat! Thanks for sharing my art with me.

Did you know that when a bunch of pumpkins get together on Halloween for a party that one of them inevitably shouts "Pumpkin stack!"? Then there's a mad scramble and no one wants to be on top. Look at this little guy, he is scared to death! I love doing these, I kept laughing every time I looked at their faces. I just finished this piece and just love this big grinning moon! I think it would look great with some Autumn flowers in it since it is waterproof. I think it would be great with Halloween shakers too. I think I am going to look around for some more to do. Hoot, hoot...owl ornaments

My regular job has slowed to a trickle so I am having so much fun making new designs! I am especially happy with these two owl ornaments. One was a suggestion from a great customer and I thought the squirrel turned out so cute. Then I just had to try an owl in a witch hat. I loved watching Molly the owl hatch her chicks on the internet last year. So I had to do a barn owl. It has such a magical look. I might have to do more of these. Both are sold. I have been busy doing completely different things. Just finished 2 bullfrogs for two friends who each wanted one. Of course they needed a little something Halloween so I made them removable hats. So fun to have two together! Ribbit...
Then, Spookytimejingles has another fun Halloween tree auction coming up on Ebay in September or October, and it's going to be filled with wonderful Day of the Dead ornaments. This will be a wowzer of a tree with all the bright colors. I will be sure to let you know more details as it gets closer. I did two skeletons and really had a blast with all the bright colors. Don't know what happened to my post about the STJ Spookytimejingles 2nd anniversary. Maybe ghosts? My sculpture sold but there are still plenty of wonderful goodies left to check out. I have been sculpting bullfrogs for almost a month now and no longer need references and might be able to do it blind folded, LOL. Love the color green with black and orange. Spooky time Jingles update!

In case you haven't heard yet, Spooky Time Jingles won't update until 12PM (Eastern time). Here is a little sneak peak at my sculpture I will have listed. This is probably the most complicated sculpt I have done to date. I started it over 6 months ago and it has many countless hours of sculpted details. Every minute was a pure joy to create. Happy Birthday Punkin!

Today is a special day as it is my one and only daughter's birthday. I love all my children but I feel especially blessed to have a daughter to share all the joys of being a woman with. She recently had her first baby and our first grand daughter and what a wonderful experience it is to see my little girl as a mom. She is doing such a good job and I am so proud of her. She will always be my little girl though no matter how old (or smart)she is. She is so talented in so many areas but I will never forget sitting in the evening and listening to her practice the piano, especially "Claire de lune". One of my favorites. I created this witch for her birthday and chose purple because it's her favorite color and put a crescent moon on the hat to honor those times together listening to the "light of the moon". I hope her life will always be blessed with wonder, moonlight, and magic!

I just finished my frog witch and it was so much fun to try different poses. I love the colors, I even made her eyes frog green and her hair soft green. She has been sold already too! I am getting ready to fill a custom order for life size bullfrogs and this gave me practice. I also completed a few more pieces that are sold. A dapper little moon man with a harlequin hat and a custom witch ornament. You know me, can't get enough of those witch ornaments. I find the older witch faces so fascinating and endless possibilities I am still trying to get our garden planted. I am over run with huge tomato plants waiting for the weather to warm up. White witch

My grandmother was of pure Swedish descent and I thought she was gorgeous! Especially when she got older, she had snow white hair and beautiful translucent skin that was almost white. I wanted to capture that in a white witch. I think she came out really well and love her face! Notice the tiny little cat teeth on the black cat, that was hard! Halloween goodies!

Hi everybody, Just wanted to share a few of my recent creations. All have been sold. Hopefully, after I finish making some new pieces for the National Halloween convention for Spookytimejingles, I will have more to offer. The first is a fun green haired witch ornament. I love her face and all the wonderful color in her. Next is something new for me, a pumpkin totem ornament. I had so much fun doing these faces and plan to do a few more. The last is a witch bust I did. The biggest I have ever done, coming in at 19". I am so pleases with how she turned out. A customer has tried for a long, long time to get one of my pieces and always just missed them. She asked if I would take pity on her and make something for her birthday. Lucky for her, since I have stopped taking custom orders right now. But how can you turn down a birthday request! So here she is. Thanks for dropping by and sharing my art work with me. New Castle boutique opening!

I am so excited to announce the opening of the Halloween Queens Castle boutique! I have been a member of the Halloween queens art group (AHQU) and boy, are we a lively group and have soooo much fun. This is the grand opening of our selling blog and I am proud to offer one of my hand sculpted witch ornament. I am particularly proud of this one. I put a lot of extra time in to sculpting all her features and wrinkles for a very cronish looking witch. Love her two tone hair especially. STILL filling orders!

Yes, here I am still plugging away trying to get all my Christmas orders done by Christmas. It has become obvious to me that I won't make it in time. Some of them just take way longer than expected. I hate to disappoint people. Especially since most asked way back in the summer. Life happens though. I did just finish two that I wanted to share. One is a Blue jay for a woman whose husband loves them, should be beautiful on a tree. Don't anyone write and ask for one though! It was incredibly time consuming. the other is a silver tabby ornament with mice. I never knew that a silver tabby was a separate breed. Gorgeous cats! I learned a lot from both of these ornaments and that's always worth it.

I recently listed a large Santa on eBay that has some fun jumping Jack nutcrackers and other toys. His face, hands, feet, and hat are all hand carved from wood. He is a recycled Santa! I love to take older items and give them a face lift and make them special. I re-carved parts of him and then painted him. Love Santa!

Wonderful surprise!

Some of you might remember the pictures of some of my ornaments on a fun spider display stand that two customers sent me pictures of? Well I think I raved so much about it they felt obligated to get me one! Smile...I was so surprised, and I love it. So I took a picture with some of my ornaments on it. Some of these are custom orders and the pumpkin face with top hat is on eBay right now. I also show one picture with a black cat shaker I am almost done with. Yep, It's the 13th of the month and I just had my new listing post on spookytimejingles. Spookytime is a wonderful market place for artists work and there are some great offerings this month. I have an owl candle/candy box up this month that I have worked on and off again for over 5 months. One of those labor of loves that I just have so much fun doing! I hand sculpted and laid out every feather and if that wasn't enough, the painting on this was so intricate. Some feathers had three and four completely different colors. This will defintly be one of a kind because I will never have the time to do another, LOL. It's reall huge too, over 21". I just got this picture from a couple of wonderful ladies who are great customers of mine. They are decorating for Halloween!! My kind of people. I just love it when people share pictures like this with me. I think one of the greatest pleasures of being an artist is first you get the joy of creating something and then you get to experience the joy of others sharing your work. It always amazes me that others enjoy it as much as me. I don't know why, I absolutely love looking at other artists work and wishing I could buy them. It always inspires me to go in and make something too. I especially like this stand she found for displaying ornaments. I always tell people you don't have to have a big tree, just a peg or a stand of some type. Thanks for sharing with me and hope everyone is enjoying a pleasant Labor day weekend.

I'm getting ready to do a pumpkin king riding a Halloween horse. So I tried doing few ornaments with pumpkin faces to see what I might do. Just love the twisted stem noses. I have to introduce this ritzy Halloween Spider with his top hat and bow tie. I had a lot of people request a spider ornament like the one on top of my last witch hat so...here he is! He just went up for auction on ebay tonight ( click on my eBay link on the right to go see him). It takes forever to make all his little treat buckets but they are so fun! Hope you enjoy him. Wow, I can't believe all the things that have happened to me in the last few weeks. I feel like I am living in one of the sappy western songs. First I got sick with the flu and that really laid me up and then my Mom needs another hip surgery (her 3rd) and then my computer crashed...it just has gone on and on. But a generous friend has lent me her laptop and I have been working. Luckily, I had a few orders to fill and sold some things direct. I wanted to share my newest sculpt. She is new and different for me and she makes me laugh like most of my art does. Anyway, I hope I am back in the saddle again for good!

New Crow Sculpture

I just had to show my crow sculpture I just finished. I think he is sold so he won't be listed anywhere. I sculpted him on the same base as my cat witch that sold on Spookytimejingles. This was so much fun. I even sculpted and laid each feather down his back for a realistic effect. I was especially happy with his hat and the crow silhouettes. Very labor intensive so I probably won't do another for awhile but would like to do another sometime maybe an ornament. Thanks for sharing him with me. Tammy

This is an open mouth cat with beautiful golden eyes. I still am having fun carving wooden birds. I especially like the silken black threads wrapped around his neck. I am so excited to show this new witch. I have been studying new sculpting techniques and painting ideas and I think this is one of the best faces I have ever produced. This is also the first time I have used JOL's on a witch hat and I think they turned out great. I have never put a witch on a stand before so I am anxious to see how she is received. I still haven't run out of ideas for witches yet so here is a few more. They both sold to people on my newsletter right away. It seems I can't do enough of them. Fine by me! This is my first attempt at a pumpkin witch and I got some fun new trims and some tiny glass bubbles I put on my purple witch. The harlequin pattern is striking but horribly time consuming. I just can't do simple. Anyway, thank you for sharing with me and I have to tell you how much I enjoy hearing from my fellow artists. It means so much!

Made these two fun cats over the weekend. The harlequin cat sold right away before I listed but the other one just listed on eBay. If you mention you saw it on my blog, I will take $10.oo off the "buy it now" price. Please notice I added a bow tie to the one in the top hat. These were very labor intensive but so worth it. Hope everyone had a fun long holiday weekend! Oh, the second cat sold too. I am sure there will be more kitties down the road though.

I have been entertaining myself by carving tiny miniature wooden birds to add to my sculptures. First I did a witch and then did another with her hat as a birdhouse. Both of these sold right away. Today I have a Santa with three types of birds on his hat. Just love them. He has chickadees, goldfinch, and a cardinal. How fun is that! This week I have been into making witches! What fun, I had no idea there were so many witch collectors out there. I challenged myself to do different types, themes, and some new materials and did three of them. First I did an old crone that turned out truly spooky. Different for me in that there is no hint of laughter in her. She is so scary though she makes me laugh. I used water colors on her face though and came up with some fun effects. I like the little bat detail on her hat. The next is a real departure in that I wanted to do a young pretty witch. I wanted her to be more truly folksy so she has no trace of glitter and more muted colors. I used some vintage bottle brush and hand carved black birds on her hat. Even used some black silk thread for her hair. Next the more traditional witch but I added a sculpted crescent moon on her hat and matched her eyes to the hat. Can't you just hear them all cackling together?? Not sure where they will be listed, will keep everyone posted.

These are my two new Vampire bat ornaments. I have been excited to get these finished. I couldn't just make one because I had to try each color! They are similar but have some differences. The purple vamp has a crystal moon and the red Vamp has a sculpted crescent moon. Also got this fabulous red shard glass glitter that I tried on the red vampire's wings. Just love that. Well I was excited to have four new pieces to sell this week and before I could list 3 of them sold and the fourth sold minutes after I listed her! Which is good for me but sad for people who were hoping to buy a witch ornament. I will do more so please don't give up. They are so fun to do! Of course everything is fun for me to make or I wouldn't be doing them. Here's a peek at them. I especially loved this old scary, craggy witch. I started my veggie seeds for the garden this week and that always lifts my spirit. It actually was a tropical 60 degrees today! At least it wasn't snowing like last week. One of the joys of living in Montana.

I have sculpted my first witch ornament and I think she turned out great! Now I am itching to make more. I was going to list her on eBay but I think she sold! But I am throwing in a picture anyway. I also have some other fun things up for auction on eBay this week. I got 6 really great pieces off to the Halloween convention (see side bar) that starts this weekend. If it wasn't on the other side of the country I would love to go! I just wanted people to know that if you see an ornament you are interested in shoot me an email and we can talk. New crater moon and tabby cat!

I have two new sculpts up this week on eBay. I wanted to try making a Halloween tabby cat since I had so much fun with the black cat He is so colorful and painting the pattern on him was a riot. I next have a very labor intensive little moon sculpt. A little different in that there is not an ounce of glitter on her. I wanted her beautiful little craters to show up and I gave her a very flat finish. Very folk artsy. I also found this iridescent blue glass stars the were just perfect for her. Both are on ebay this week. If I don't sell the moon sculpt with buy it now, I will pack her up for the National Halloween convention next week! Thanks for looking, Tammy

First is my Halloween black cat. The first cat ornament I have done and I am in love with him. I will definitely do more. Last is my charming little Spring Moon Queen. Wow, it doesn't take long to fill up a blog page does it? Just wanted to remind everyone that if you scroll to the bottom of the page, I have added some pictures of past art work. I have more to add too! So from time to time will change and add more. I am so excited by the comments people take the time to leave. I have been really missing out.
This week to beat the winter blues, I plan on starting some flower seeds. I have fallen in love with a type of petunia seed that you never know what color they will be. Here is a pic from last year. All the pink ones are from one packet. I love my garden. It calms my mind and gives me so much joy. Oh the seeds are from Park seed company.

New project in the works

I just finished doing some custom Halloween Tambourines for some wonderful ladies and decided I would make a new one to sell. I have this idea in my head that I want to try and it won't go away until I do it! These tambourines are soooo much fun to make, allthough they are super time consuming. I love picking out and putting on the wonderful ribbons. There are some fantastic choices available nowadays in ribbons. Here is a picture of one of the old ones I have done. Stay tuned for the new one.
